Learning Spanish will help you understand English better. Most people don't understand their native tongue grammar because they learned it as a baby. Studying Spanish will force you to understand grammar and this will give you an appreciation of English grammar. This will improve your written, and possibly your spoken, English.
If you suddenly discover a passion for learning languages then Spanish skills can aid you in learning French and Italian. These three languages are all romantic languages so they are constructed similarly. The biggest problem will be spelling and pronouncing the words.
