Further education is hair-raising expensive these days. Students who opt for online degrees can cut out major expenses such as travel and accommodation through studying online. It’s possible that due to spiralling education costs more and more people will be forced to get their degree online in the coming years…something that will only escalate the already phenomenal growth in the online education industry.
These reasons are the principal drivers behind the incredible growth in the number of online degrees taken online…from 480,000 in 2002 to over 1.7 million estimated this year (according to The Washington Post). And the really exciting thing is that we’re just at the very beginning of the growth phase.
Another important factor in earning that online college degree is that many employers do not make a distinction between a degree earned from an online college or one that is earned on a college campus.
