Each year U.S. News ranks American colleges and universities according to a complex survey that is completed by college and university Presidents and administrators. U.S. News assigns “best” categories according to however they tally the answers received to a long list of questions.
The results are always a bit controversial as colleges that are ranked poorly feel that mistakes have occurred. In the National Universities group are the 262 American universities (164 public and 98 private) that offer a wide range of undergraduate majors as well as master’s and doctoral degrees; many strongly emphasize research.
The rankings for the 2008 school year are now in and the complaints are already flooding in.
Take a look for yourself. It is a good source of information on colleges and universities even though the survey is a bit controversial.
