College Campus or Online Study

OK, you have made a wise decision and decided to get a college degree.

Now you have a lot more decisions to make. Deciding on a field of study that you have a real passion for is important as you can zero in on colleges that have good reputations for study in your chosen field. Unfortunately, many high school seniors do not have a clear idea as to the type of careers they want to have prior to entering college.

This lack of focus can lead to time being wasted at a college that is just not right for you. Actually, unless you have a good idea as to what type of career that you would like to have perhaps you should work for a year or two at a JOB until you can figure it out.

Time spend on a job can quickly give you a real insight as to the value of having a college degree. You will be earning at least some money as you gain maturity.

When you are ready for college you will be in a better position to decide how to go about it. Today there are many college courses leading to degrees offered on line. By taking distance learning courses you can continue to earn as you learn and if there are good career prospects offered at your present place of employment you may wish to keep your job and gain seniority as you pursue your college degree.

For some people there are real social benefits from attending classes on a college campus. In fact, the opportunity to make good friends and contacts can be of tremendous importance as life and your career moves on. If you do attend college on a campus you should make as many good friends as possible and be sure to maintain contact with them after graduation.

When your friendships are maintained over the years the social advantages of attending college classes on campus may actually be of greater benefit than the lessons learnedĀ from your courses.

Just look at what can happen. Don’t you know that the classmates of one George W. Bush are all amazed at how far their college friend has progressed in life? I bet that those who maintained a good relationship with George Bush prior to his election as President would be welcome to visit a big White House if they are ever in the Washington D.C. neighborhood.

As you can see there are certain advantages to online study in that you can earn money and gain on the job experience while you complete your studies. You can also study at our own pace as you have the time although setting regular study hours probably works out best.

The biggest benefit, in my opinion, to attending classes on campus is the social interaction between your professors and fellow classmates. Friendships forged at college can serve you well over a lifetime.

Whatever you decide the sooner you can zero in on a field that you can be passionate about the better. Those who achieve much in life usually have firm goals in mind and take the right steps to get there.
